Today’s major .NET languages allow developers to use functional programming techniques that can reach far outside the realm of traditional imperative and object-oriented programming.
Yr (yr.no), Northern Europe’s biggest weather site serving millions of users worldwide since 2007, has taken advantage of many of these techniques since the introduction of LINQ and the rise of F#. The talk will give an introduction to how this has been done in both C#, VB.NET and F#, with a variety of applications including data processing, functional composition for I/O flow control, HTML rendering and the use of functional DSL techniques for graph rendering.
